Terms of Service
Effective 9 September 2026
The short version: this is a parent’s account holding a family’s own records. What you upload stays yours. June, the AI tutor, is a patient study aid, not a teacher and not a diagnosis, and a card read by a machine is a draft until you confirm it. Use it for your own children.
The agreement
These terms are between you and [Legal entity] (“we”), which operates Toward June at towardjune.com. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not, do not use the app.
The Privacy Policy is part of this agreement and describes what we collect and how long we keep it.
What Toward June is, and is not
Toward June does two things: it holds the record of what your child’s district actually said, and it runs June, a patient AI tutor that practises with them.
We are not affiliated with the San Francisco Unified School District, or with any school, teacher, or activity provider. We do not send anything to your child’s school. Nothing here is an official district record; the district’s own copy of a report card is the authoritative one.
The app is not a teacher, a therapist, a diagnosis, or a special-education service. It does not assess or evaluate your child, and it is not a substitute for talking to the person who wrote the report card.
Who may use it
You must be 18 or older and the parent or legal guardian of the children whose records you enter — or an adult a parent or guardian has invited into their household.
Children do not have accounts and do not sign in. A child uses the app on your device, in a session you start. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by someone you invited.
Enter records only for children you are entitled to hold records for. Uploading another family’s report card is a breach of these terms.
Your account and your household
Keep your sign-in details to yourself and tell us if you think someone else has them. Invitations are how you add people; each person you invite holds one of three roles:
- Owner — everything, including managing membership.
- Guardian — read and write child data.
- Viewer — read only.
Invite deliberately. A guardian can read every mark, comment, and tutoring transcript in the household, and can turn tutoring on. You can remove a member or cancel an unaccepted invitation at any time.
What you upload stays yours
You keep every right you have in the report cards, photographs, notes, and other content you put into Toward June. You give us only the permission we need to run the app for you: to store your content, show it back to your household, and pass it to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy for the specific job you asked for — reading a card, writing a summary, running a session.
That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account. We do not use your family’s content to train AI models, we do not sell it, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload.
June, the AI tutor
Consent comes first
Tutoring is off until a parent or guardian turns it on for a specific child, after reading what is recorded. You can turn it off again at any time. See Children, consent and voice.
Stay nearby
Sessions are recorded and scanned, and June is built to refuse to hand over answers, to avoid comparisons, and never to recite your child’s marks back to them. Those guardrails are real and enforced in code. They are not supervision. An AI can still be wrong, can misunderstand a child, or can say something you would not have said. Stay within earshot, and end the session whenever you want to.
Limits
A session runs for up to 30 minutes. A household may start up to 8 sessions and use up to 90 minutes of tutoring per day. These caps exist so a session cannot run up an unbounded bill or run unattended for hours; they may change, and we will not change them in a way that quietly costs you money.
A tutoring session needs a microphone. If you decline it, nothing is recorded and no session starts.
Accuracy, and what you must check
A card read by a model is a draft. Extraction produces marks for you to review against the paper in your hand, and nothing becomes your child’s recorded mark until you confirm it. This is deliberate, and it is the one step in the app you should not rush.
AI summaries are generated text. They are scanned for comparisons and for clinical language before you see them, and you can report one that gets it wrong — but read them as a description, not as a finding.
Toward June never averages marks, never computes a GPA, never ranks your child, and never draws a trendline through their marks. Marks below 3 in the first two trimesters are normal. If you ever see the app do otherwise, that is a bug and we want to hear about it.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- Enter records for a child you are not the parent, guardian, or invited caregiver of.
- Use June for anything other than a child's own schoolwork, or try to steer it away from its instructions.
- Share your account, or give a child unsupervised access to the account itself.
- Attempt to reach another household's data, probe the service for vulnerabilities without asking us first, or scrape it.
- Upload malware, or content you have no right to upload.
- Resell the service, or use it to build a competing dataset.
Security research is welcome if you tell us first: privacy@towardjune.com.
Availability and changes to the service
We may change, suspend, or discontinue parts of the app. If we discontinue something you rely on, we will give you reasonable notice and a way to export your family’s records first. The service is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Keep your own copies of your children’s report cards. This app is a better way to read them; it is not the place to store the only copy.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost opportunity, arising from your use of Toward June. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Toward June and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your household’s data, including uploaded cards and recordings, on the schedule in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, particularly one holding records for children it has no right to. Where we can, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export what is yours.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change, the effective date at the top changes. For a material change we will tell account holders by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, close your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of [State], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the courts of [County, State] have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
Before filing anything, please email us. Most of what ends up in a dispute started as a question nobody asked.
